About

Gita Widya Laksmini is my name.

Pretty long name, I know. It has a long history also. My dad spent days in the library of Javanese Literature department to come up with these three words.

Gita means song, as in the Hindunese holy book of Bhagavad Gita. Widya – Vijay in Indian – is knowledge, inspired by the fact that my mom carried me in her womb when she was studying in the School of Medicine. Laksmini was a twist of Laksmana, a leading commander as I was the first daughter in the family and the first grand daughter in the big big grand family of mine. Laksmi itself the name of a Hindu goddess. Later on I learn that Laksmini means fertility in Javanese language.

So in brief, I am the goddess of fertility who commands the song of knowledge. Haha.

Pretty big, eh.

Wait, it gets bigger.

Later in my life I met this guy, Yudhi Soerjoatmodjo. We fell in love and we got married. As a gesture of love, I added his family name. So I became… wait… Gita Widya Laksmini Soerjoatmodjo. Come to think of it, it should be Gita Widya Laksmini Sasongko-Soerjoatmodjo, as Sasongko is my dad’s name.

And you know what, Sasongko means the moon and Soerjoatmodjo mean the son of the god of the Sun.

There you have it. My name is Gita Widya Laksmini Sasongko-Soerjoatmodjo, and I am the goddess of fertility who commands the song of knowledge and embraced by the moon and the sun.

Aha!

Pretty cool name, isn’t it?

In a briefer version, it becomes Gita Soerjoatmodjo. And it is the name of this blog.

This blog will document thoughts, feelings, opinions, commentaries, ideas, ramblings, contemplation, theories, reflection … of this goddess of fertility.

Hope those fraction of mind would lead to some sort of knowledge.

Wish they would be enjoyable to read, just like songs you listen to.

And may Gods of the Sun and the Moon enlighten you, my readers…
